BLACK MAGIC TECHNIQUE

As promised from last weeks post, I've put together a little tutorial on how to achieve this lovely look with the "Black Magic" technique.

Okay, let's get started.  You'll need to start with a dark colored cardstock.  My suggested colors (item #'s shown are for 8-1/2" x 11") 

 Basic Black - 102128

Basic Gray - 121044

Early Espresso - 119686

Elegant Eggplant - 105126

Bravo Burgundy - 105123

Night of Navy - 100867

Select a stamp images that are "solid" as opposed to a linear one.  Stamp your image using the Whisper White Craft Stampin' Pad (101731).

Color images using our Watercolor Wonder Crayons directly over the white ink.  Here are the item numbers for the exclusive 4 color collections to choose from:

Now - here's when the "magic" comes in...

Using your uni-ball (r) Signo White Gel Pen (105021), start adding highlights and to use as an "embellishment", such as the added dots along the circle.  I love how the white gel pen really brings this to life!

KEEPING THE MOMENTUM

If you thought I was done with samples using the SAB Hostess Bundle, you were wrong!  I love this bundle!  Can you tell?  Here's another fun card with some added products I hadn't used in any of the previous samples.

You may wonder why there's a shine just above the right wing of the butterfly.  That's because the butterfly is actually sitting on top of a window sheet, which is what makes this card unique.  Here's a closer look:

One of my favorite stamped greeting sets is the Loving Thoughts (w - #125843   c - 125845) set found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  As you can see here, it's a set of 11 wonderful words and greetings.

I wish you could see this card in real life.  As usually, the picture really doesn't give it much justice.

Here's the last sample using all the elements of the SAB Hostess Bundle.  You'll notice, the colors are quite different in comparison to the previous samples.

This was done using the "Black Magic" technique.  If you come back next week, I will be putting up another tutorial on how to achieve this stunning look along with the list of supplies needed.

JUST AS PROMISED - FUN TUTORIAL!

It's time to gather all your extra strips of DSP.  You know, the ones you end up with after cutting the pieces you "really" need for whatever project you were working on.  Now you have something fun and creative to do with them.  Let's get started...

Don't worry about the widths of the strips.  I actually think it's better to have them different widths, rather than all the same, although it really doesn't matter.  You'll need a sheet of our Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets.  At only $14.95 for a package of a dozen of 12" x 12" sheets, it is such a steal!  Cut them down to your prefered size.

Peel away the printed side to reveal the adhesive on the plain white piece.  Notice my left thumb holding the very corner.  It is very sticky, so try to avoid touching that tacky part, otherwise the adhesive will lift off onto your fingers or whatever else it may come in contact with.

Next, take your first strip of DSP and lay it across diagonally, as shown here.

The rest is pretty self explainatory.  Work toward the middle and work your way outward.

Once you'Ve completed covering the whole piece, turn it around and trim off all along the four sides, as shown here.

Here's the finished piece, ready for you to put onto your card for the finishing touches.  That's all there is to it!

JUST HAD TO SHARE

So, one of my goals is to start posting AT LEAST 4 - 5 times a week MINIMUM!  Wouldn't you know it.  My darn internet server went down and I'm currently at my daughter's work at It's A Grind coffee house (in my opinion better than Starbuck's - just sayin'!) on her laptop.  Boy, do we take all this tech stuff for granted and rely so much on computers, internet, cell phones, etc.  My, how did we ever get by "back-in-the-day"?

Sorry, no samples today.  But, I will share some personal history about myself and Stampin' Up! from when I first started as a demonstrator in April 1992.  Yes, April will mark my 20th year anniversary with this WONDERFUL company.

Anyway, I was just asking, "How did we ever get by, 'back-in-the-day'?"  Well, when I first became a demonstrator my demonstrator starter kit cost much more than it does now and the value of it was much less.  I don't remember the exact cost at the time, but I do remember, it was at least $200.00.  I'm thinking it was $250.00.  Back then, we had to "snail mail" our orders into the home office, which at the time was located in Boulder City, NV (or was it Las Vegas?).  Anyway...  Orders would arrive THREE WEEKS later!

Now, all this to say, Stampin' Up! and technology has certainly come a long way baby!

Darn, they're getting ready to shut the doors, so I need to get going.  Hopefully, by tomorrow my computer internet server will be up and running and I'll be ready to share more fun samples with all of you!  

Ops!  There goes the lights, I think that's a hint that they're closing!  Gotta run!

THE DAY AFTER VALENTINE'S

Okay, so Valentine's Day is over, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't still show those we love how much we think and care about them, right?  Our "hearts" will always be with them.  So, our Take It To Heart (w- 125520  c- 125522) and Loving Thoughts (w - 125843   c - 125845) stamp sets make the perfect pairing to let that special someone know you're thinking of them.  And, with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies (#125599), you can cut the perfect heart shape to go with the designs of the Take It To Heart stamp set, as you can see from this card.
